First Wind Turbine Up At Buffalo Wind Farm

WSTM reports that construction has been completed on the first wind turbine at a new wind farm in Lackawanna, New York. The wind farm is located on Lake Erie just south of Buffalo. When completed this spring, the wind farm will feature eight wind turbines.

Northumberland Wind Farm On Hold Because of ‘Visual Impact’

Berwick Today reports that North Northumberland’s largest wind farm plan has been rejected by local planners and will be going to a public inquiry. The proposed 18-turbine wind farm was to be built at Middlemoor, near North Charlton, England, has been rejected by the Alnwick District Council’s development control committee because of concerns of the visual impact that the renewable energy source will have on the community.

Idaho Power Gets Approval To Buy Wind Energy

North American Windpower reports that the Idaho Public Utilities Commission has recently approved two wind power purchase agreements for the Idaho Power Co. One was a 20-year agreement was to purchase 100 Megawatts of wind energy from Telocaset Wind Power Producers, a Texas-based wind farm that will be online next year. And the other was an agreement to purchase wind energy from Idaho Winds LLC, a company that intends to build a wind farm near Glenns Ferry, Idaho - an 18 Megawatt wind farm that should be operating before the end of the year.
