<p>Milton Keynes Citizen reports that one of Europe’s biggest wind turbines is proposed to be built in Milton Keynes, England. The structure would stand 180 metres high and would power a new distribution warehouse for John Lewis. While permission has not be sought after by developers it is hoped to be operational by 2009 when the warehouse opens.</p>

<p>Beccles and Bungay Journal reports that turkey farmer, Bernard Matthews of Holton, United Kingdom, had plans to install two wind turbines earlier this year. Unfortunately, a case of the bird flu throughout his farm delayed plans. While he has already gained permission for a test run to measure wind power, there are no signs construction will be able to begin for at least another two months.</p>

<p>CNNMoney.com reports that 750 Globalstar satellite modems will be purchased by Second Wind, Inc., a wind energy software and electronics manufacturer. These modems will connect with wind measurement systems and data loggers to provide customers with remote wind measurements from the United States and Canada.</p>

<p>Hemscott.com reports that Endesa SA has begun construction on two new wind farms in Northern Spain that will have a total capacity of producing 64.5 megawatts of energy. The company is hoping to have 14% of total production be of renewable energy sources by 2009.</p>

<p>News.Scotsman.com reports that a private owner of land in Scotland has signed an agreement with Lewis Wind Power to build 181 wind turbines on their land, securing income from the wind farm regardless of ownership. Local crofters of the area are prepared to block the wind farm, which is only pending an decision from the Scottish Executive.</p>

<p>The Northwest Evening Mail reports the West Cumbria, England branch of Frieds of the Earth, are hoping to bring a wind farm to highly visited tourist destination of the Lake District. The proposed wind farm will create enough power for 10,000 homes and is being promoted by the group through an education guide distributed now on the Cumbria Coastal Railway.</p>

<p>Canada.com reports singer Anne Murray is angry over a proposed wind farm in Nova Scotia, Canada. The singer lives near the proposed location and feels it would disturb the aesthic nature of the surrounding golf course. The development is proposed to take place in 2009 and would have the capacity to power 15,000 homes.</p>

<p>BusinessWire.com reports that the largest wind farm in Tuscany, Italy was powered up for the first time recently. The wind farm, by Endesa Italia, has the capacity to produce 20 megawatts of power with ten turbines. Poggi Alti is the third of its kind in Italy in the last ten months and operation is planned for another by September. Endesa’s plan is to install 400 megawatts of wind energy by 2009.</p>
