Desert Claim Wind Power Requests Approval for Wind Farm in Kittitas County, WA

Written on July 6, 2007

Businesswire.com reports that Desert Claim Wind Power asked the state Energy Facility Site Evaluation Council to approve the proposal for a wind farm in Kittitas County, Washington. The original proposal for this wind farm was submitted in 2005 and called for 120 wind turbines, it was turned down. It was also turned down with the amendment for only 90 wind turbines, the new proposal calls for 82 wind turbines that will power 55,000 homes in an area that is expected to growby 2 million people in the next 25 years. The location of this site is critical in saving area residents from paying higher utility bills. Because it is located in a power transmission corridor this would save $500,000 - $1 million per mile in construction.
