Delay at the Dept. of Commerce and Economic Opportunity has Stalled Wind Farm Construction

Saukvalley.com reports that while the proposal for the Big Sky Wind Farm in Amboy, Illinois has received all necessary signatures in the community, construction has yet to begin. This delay is due to the lack of a signature from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity to expand the Lee County Enterprise Zone. Apparantly, the department has been experiencing issues with staffing due to the high volume of applications they receive, but what used to take 3 weeks is now taking months. The new wind farm is expected to add $880,000 in property taxes to the area.
