The CBC News reports Boralex will develop its first Canadian wind farm in Ontario. After acquiring nine wind farms in the Windsor, Ontario area the company will double its wind generating capacity by 2009. Energy sales increased for the company in the second quarter by 56%.

Renewable Energy Access reports 80 turbines will be delivered internationally for wind farm projects in Germany, France, Italy and Australia by the joint agreement between manufacturing companies REPower Systems AG and Epuron GmbH. This agreement will help Epuron with their international growth strategy while REPower remains the third largest German manufacturer of wind turbines.

Columbus Business Journal reports Appalachian Power and Indiana Michigna Power have agreed to purchase 200 megawatts of wind energy from Fowler Ridge Wind Farm in Indiana. Both companies are subsidiaries of American Electric Power Company and are part of the initiative to expand renewable energy sources. AEP plans to add 1,000 more megawatts of energy to their portfolio by the year 2011.

Radio Iowa reports Invenergy has proposed a wind project near Adair and Cass counties in Iowa called “Windy Hills.” Landowners housing turbines of the project will be compensated at $5,000 per turbine for the first year and the rate will compound by 2% each year thereafter. Clipper Wind Power and Alliant Energy also announced plans for wind farms within the same counties. This will create a strong tax base for the community and will add jobs to the area.

Burnham-On-Sea.com report Ecotricity will face an 8-day appeal on a proposed wind farm near Brent Knoll, United Kingdom. The original application had been submitted and denied last August. New plans call for 4 wind turbines versus the 5 wind turbines proposed in the original application.

Keloland.com reports 60 wind tubines are being erected on each side of the North Dakota and South Dakota border creating 90 megawatts of wind energy for either state. The Tatanka Wind Farm is expected to complete construction by the end of this year

Burnham and Highbridge Weekly News reports a proposed wind farm in Edithmead, United Kingdom was rejected last August and is up for investigation this year. The original plan by Ecotricity called for 5 turbines to create enough wind energy to power 10,000 homes. 210 objection letters had the plan called off by the Sedgemoor District Council.

WindTech International reports Trinergy has sold their wind farms to International Power Plc. The sale was the equivalent of $2.5 billion for wind farms currently operating and those under construction in Italy and Germany. The total generating capacity of 648 megawatts of energy was sold.

SaukValley.com reports Sauk Valley Community College in Illinois is considering the installation of two wind turbines on campus to generate electricity. A test turbine will be erected to collect data for one year. The proposed turbines would reduce electric bills for the school by $175,000 a year.
