New Zealand Prime Minister Takes Wind Farm Construction as a Moment to Reinforce Renewable Energy Goals
Scoop.co.nz reports the Prime Minister of New Zealand’s address at the opening of the construction for Meridian Energy’s wind farm in Makara says the farm will have 140-150 MW of wind power. This amount will greatly contribute to Wellington, as it will be the first wind farm in the area. The Prime Minister also addressed the desire to have a high usage of electric vehicles and that Meridian will run a trial next year. Two new energy initiatives were also mentioned during the construction speech. The New Zealand Energy Strategy and the New Zealand Energy Efficiency and Conservation Strategy will be release next month.
