Town Produces 13% of Energy Wind

Wicked Local Hull reports Hull produces 13% of the town’s energy with two wind turbines.  The Environmental Protection Agency Administrator visited Windmill Point.  The first turbine was erected by the highschool in 1985 and was replaced in 2001 with a larger model.

Montana’s News Station.com reports the first phase of Glacier Wind farm in Montana will produce 106MW of wind powewr to be sold to customers in California.  The construction is expected to be complete by October and NaturEner has plans to become the largest wind developer in Montana.

Telegraph.co.uk reports Al Gore says that the attack on global warming will also save the economic and security crisis in the United States.  The Alliance for Climate Protection has an estimated $1.5- $3 trillian cost for his 30-year plan.  According to Gore, the most important policy change will be to introduce a tax on carbon dioxide pollution.  Barack Obama is supporting Gore’s challenge while energy experts say that Mr. Gore has suggested too fast of a turnaround.

Smart Brief reports Noble Environmental Power is building a new wind farm in Michigan.  This farm will feature 46 General Electric wind turbines.

$4 Monthly Charge Helps Pay for Transmission Lines

KUTV.com reports that $4.9 billion worth of transmission lines is in the approval process to move wind energy across Texas.  Texas currently creates 5,000 MW of wind power, but new lines will allow it to move 18,000 MW.  The plan is helped to be funded by adding a $4 monthly charge to consumer’s electric bill.

The Associated Press reports that preliminary approval was granted to install $4.9 billion of transmission lines to move wind energy.  Texas already generates 5,000 MW of wind energy, but faulty transmission lines have prevented it from reaching its full capacity.  The new lines will allow for 18,000 MW of wind energy to be moved, enough to power 4 million homes.

The Earth Times reports Dakota Wind Energy will have a public offering for South Dakota landowners to have part of a 750MW community owned wind farm.  If a landowner grants the wind farm developer wind-related rights they are eligible for a traditional cash payment or units in the Dakota Wind Energy company.

Maryland Considers Jumping on Offshore Wind Project

Cape Gazette reports Maryland’s Governor is interested in jumping on board with Delaware in the offshore Bluewater Wind project.  The larger the project the less risk involved and the greator economic benefits to all parties.  Delmarva Power will purchase 200 MW of wind power from the project.  For the project to expand to 600 MW generating capacity, Maryland would have to be a secured customer.

Fisherman’s Energy Supports Master Energy Plan

Market Watch reports Fisherman’s Energy is in support of the New Jersey Energy Master Plan.  The Plan calls for a target of 3,000MW of offshore wind power by 2020.  While an optimistic goal, there are currently no offshore wind farms in the U.S.  A proposal has been submitted by Fisherman’s Energy for a site off the coast of Atlantic City.
