Chile Considers Wind Farm

EcoWorldly reports Endesa Chile is looking to invest $40 million in their first solar plant.  They are also considering a wind farm that will be similiar to one in Canela, Coquimbo, that will have a wind power generating capacity of 80 MW.

Industrial Info Resources reports Kas has performed an environmental impact study for a proposed 500MW wind project in Chile.  The farm, located in the Coquimbo region, will cost $1billion and will utilize 243 wind turbines, each producing 2-3MW of wind energy capacity.

RenewableEnergyAccess.com reports Electron Solar Energy will partner with U.S. manufacturers to bring wind generation to Latin America and the Caribbean.  The company features a system that uses several languages to reach difficult markets in need of renewable energy.  They also offer same-day delivery, if necessary, out of their warehouse in Miami, Florida.

Renewable Energy Access reports twenty three wind parks in Chile are under research to seek the potential of wind energy in the country.  Currently 2MW of electricity comes from wind energy amongst their 12,700MW of energy capacities.  The end results of these studies could be 138MW of energy a year from wind generation.

Renewable Energy Access reports a newly purchased wind farm in Brazil by Ecoenergy will generate 61MW a year after adding 20 wind turbines to the existing 18.  Commercial operations are estimated to begin by January 2009.

Cleantech reports Ecoenergy International of Colorado will pay $460,000 now and an additional $2.8 million in 2011 to purchase an 18MW wind farm in Brazil.  Ecoenergy has plans to double the wind generating capacity by adding 20 more wind turbines to the site. Commercial operation is expected to begin by January 2009.

AES Corp to Have the Third Largest Wind Farm in Texas

Businesswire.com reports Buffalo Gap Wind Farm by AES Corp has announced plans for an expansion to become the third largest wind farm in Texas.  AES plans to continue to expand their wind generation further in the United States as well as Asia and Latin America.
